Top-Rated San Antonio Montessori School Serving Uptown Central

Implementing Montessori San Antonio 4

Our Montessori school offers education for children from babies to sixth graders in the Uptown Central area. At Country Day Montessori, we do things differently than regular schools. Each child learns at their speed and follows their interests. Our teachers are specially trained to guide students rather than tell them exactly what to do. We believe in hands-on learning where children touch, feel, and explore to understand new ideas. Uptown Central families choose us because we help children become confident, independent thinkers who are ready for future challenges.

Our Programs include

Infant Care (Newborn - 18 months)

Our infant care program gives babies as young as 3 months a safe place to grow and learn. We create a warm, loving space where infants can explore with their senses and develop early skills. Our trained staff responds to each baby’s needs and helps them build trust and confidence.

Pre-Primary (18 months - 3 years)

Our Pre-Primary program helps toddlers learn to talk, move, and play with others. Children use special Montessori materials that fit their small hands and developing minds. They practice everyday skills like pouring, sorting, and dressing themselves, which builds confidence and independence.

Primary (3 - 6 years)

The Primary program introduces children to reading, writing, math, science, and culture through hands-on activities. Students work with materials that make abstract ideas concrete and understandable. They learn to focus, solve problems, and work both alone and with friends.

Lower Elementary (Grades 1-3)

Our Lower Elementary program expands on earlier learning with deeper studies in all subject areas. Students work on projects, research topics they’re curious about, and develop strong academic skills. They learn to manage their time, set goals, and take responsibility for their learning.

Upper Elementary (Grades 4-6)

The Upper Elementary program prepares students for middle school and beyond with challenging academic work. Students tackle complex concepts, lead group projects, and develop critical thinking skills. They become responsible members of their school community and learn to make positive contributions.

Summer Program

Our summer program keeps children learning and having fun during school breaks. We mix academic activities with outdoor play, art projects, and special themes. Children maintain their skills and make new friends in a familiar, supportive environment.

How Montessori Education Helps Your Child

Better Learning

At Country Day Montessori, children learn through movement and hands-on exploration. Instead of sitting at desks all day, they choose activities that interest them, using specialized materials to grasp concepts through touch and action. This approach makes learning enjoyable and helps knowledge stick. As a result, our students often master reading, writing, and math earlier than their peers while developing a lifelong love of learning.

Better Social Skills

Our mixed-age classrooms create a supportive, family-like environment where children learn from one another. Older students develop leadership skills by mentoring younger peers, while younger children gain confidence by observing and engaging with older role models. This setting fosters teamwork, problem-solving, and respect, helping students become confident, kind individuals who connect well with others.

Unlike regular preschools, we let children choose their own activities and learn at their own pace. Our classrooms have children of different ages learning together, which helps younger kids learn from older ones. We use special materials designed to teach through hands-on experience rather than just listening. Our teachers guide children instead of standing in front of the class teaching everyone the same thing at the same time. Plus, our big outdoor campus with animals and gardens gives children unique learning experiences that most city preschools can’t offer.

How do you handle childhood illnesses at your school?

We follow strict health guidelines to keep all children safe. We require children to stay home when they’re sick and follow San Antonio Health Department recommendations for when they can return. Our staff is trained in recognizing symptoms of common childhood illnesses, and we notify parents promptly if their child becomes ill at school. We also teach children proper handwashing and other healthy habits as part of our practical life curriculum.

Do you accommodate children with special needs in your Uptown Central classrooms?

We consider each child’s needs individually and work with families to determine if our environment is a good fit. The Montessori method, with its individualized approach, often works well for children with various learning differences.
