About Us

Our History

Founded in 1983 by Miss Betty Williams as the San Antonio Country Day Montessori School, our school began with a vision to provide genuine Montessori education in a charming Hill Country Farm House.  Our initial focus was to provide Montessori education for Pre-Primary and Primary age groups, a vision that distinguished us through our unique educational approach and commitment to Montessori principles.

As our school evolved, so did our commitment to nurturing young minds leading to the expansion of our offerings, including the introduction of Lower and Upper Elementary programs. In 2003, we constructed a new elementary building on our campus, further supporting our growth alongside our students.

In 2021, the school underwent a significant transition with new ownership while proudly maintaining its woman-owned status and embracing the name Country Day Montessori. Responding to the growing needs of our community, we expanded our programs to include a comprehensive Infant Program. Most recently, in 2023, we undertook the construction of an additional building to our campus to further support our mission of providing an enriched learning environment.

Today, we are privileged to celebrate over 40 years of excellence in delivering accelerated learning within an authentic Montessori environment.

Our School

For over 14 years, Country Day Montessori School has proudly held accreditation from Cognia, a testament to our commitment to excellence in education. Our expansive campus caters to students from infancy through upper elementary, featuring a wealth of outdoor amenities. Country Day Montessori’s grounds include a dynamic outdoor classroom and stage, scenic walking paths and bridges, a charming barnyard with chickens and goats, a vibrant butterfly garden and a greenhouse, and a basketball court.

We offer a robust range of programs designed to enrich our students’ experiences, including a dedicated writing teacher and program, a reading teacher and program, an art director and program, as well as after-school clinics in sports, art, cooking, dance, and tumbling. The chess club further fosters critical thinking and strategy skills.

Rooted in Montessori philosophy, we emphasize accelerated learning within a nurturing environment. Our core values—Grace and Courtesy, Respect for Oneself and Others, Independence and Leadership, Love for Learning, and Responsibility to Nature and the Environment—are integral to our teaching approach, ensuring every student thrives academically and personally.
